They often run when manufacturers use cheap clothing dyes or insufficient drying/curing techniques. This means the colour isn’t securely locked into your clothes fabrics leaving them susceptible to colour run.
You will often find that the most common colours to run are oranges and reds. We would recommend when you purchase a new item no matter what the colour is to wash it separately first. After that initial wash your item should be fine with other items of clothing. To be safe you should always properly sort your clothes into whites and colours.

How to avoid colour run
1. Do no overload the machine.
This is because the wash will be rougher and the clean will be uneven.
2. Use a colour catcher.

3. Check your clothes labels.
Some clothing has a higher risk of colour run such as those which are “hand wash only” or labelled “colour may run”.
