Your cooker hood does more than shine a light on what you are cooking, it prevents the grease from landing on all of your beautifully clean kitchen surfaces. When your cooker hood is in full working order it removes food smells, grease particles and any steam whilst you are cooking. This helps to keep your kitchen smelling and looking clean and fresh. In order to keep your cooker hood running at its optimal performance, you need to clean it regularly.

Here is how to keep your cooker hood fresh and clean:

1. Remove the aluminium filters and either put them in the dishwasher on a hot wash or hand wash them in the sink with warm soapy water.

2. Make sure you dry the filters carefully after washing.

3. Next, clean the metal exterior using either bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar or hot soapy water and a cloth.

4. When you clean the metal cooker hood exterior ensure you are going with the grain of the metal to remove tough grease.

5. Never use steel wool or a scouring pad as this will scratch the metal.

6. Wipe over the entire cooker hood with a clean damp cloth.

7. Finally, place the filters back into the cooker hood.

Regular cleaning will help to prevent an unnecessary cooker hood repair.
