How to clean your oven and avoid a NEFF oven repair
There are a few signs that its time you cleaned your oven to prevent long term damage and a NEFF oven repair with our friendly engineers. If you see dirt and grease coated on your oven or if you smell some kind of food as soon as you turn the oven on it’s time to find your marigolds and get to work. We would recommend cleaning your oven at least once every 3-4 months however, this does vary from household to household.
It’s important to clean your oven regularly to ensure your appliance is performing at its best. Some ovens come with a self-cleaning function, this is helpful if your oven is moderately dirty. It’s important to always remove the racks and any trays from your oven before using the self-cleaning function. This is because the oven heats to a very high temperature to essentially melt away the dirt and grease from your appliance.
If you’re looking to prevent a NEFF oven repair and prolong the life of your oven, have a read of our oven cleaning tips:
The inside and racks
Before you start cleaning your oven, please ensure your room is properly ventilated and you have the correct products.
- Start the oven cleaning process by removing your oven racks and soaking these in hot soapy water. If the grease is tough we would recommend spraying on some oven cleaner and leaving the racks for an hour. This should help to dissolve the dirt and grease.
- Give the racks a scrub with wire wool or a scourer to remove the remaining dirt before drying.
- Depending on your oven type, the inside of your oven should be cleaned with a cloth and washing detergent. Please be careful on textured sides if your oven is self-cleaning (please refer to the manufacturer’s guide).
- Finally, dry all areas and reassemble.
The door
Cleaning your oven door should be quick and easy. This is something you can do as part of your weekly kitchen clean, this way the build-up will be minimal.
- Start by removing any dirt or grease with an oven cleaner.
- You’ll then want to give the door a good wipe over with a clean cloth to remove the cleaner and any remaining dirt and grease.
- Cleaning the edges of your oven door and the handles is important to remove any dirt and bacteria.
- Finally, ensure your oven door is sparkling clean and dry before using the oven.
It’s important to try and maintain a clean oven, using roasting bags and tinfoil over food can reduce grease spills.
